President Saleh donates YR 10 mln to NCCF Mohammed Yahya on 08/17/2009 at 10:59pm (UTC)

SANA'A, Aug. 17 (MYM channel) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh donated YR10 million to the National Cancer Control Foundation (NCCF), Chairman of Shoura Council Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Ghani announced on Monday. Inaugurating activities of the national campaign executed by NCCF for supporting cancer patients, Abdul-Ghani affirmed the necessity of gathering the state, people and private sector efforts to support establishing cancer treatment centers. For his part, Chairman of NCCF board of Trustees Abdul Weasea Hail Saeed reviewed the foundation's plans and programs in spreading public awareness, presenting medical services and supporting cancer patients financially as well as encouraging the scientific research in this respect. Saeed indicated that the foundation is as to open Early Detection of Breast Center in Sana'a ,which is considered the first specialized center in Yemen ,in addition to establishing similar centers in the other governorates. About 22,000 people are infected by cancer annually in Yemen, Saeed revealed pointing that 70 percent of them reached diagnosing centers at the late phases of disease, a matter which raises the mortality and makes cure complicated. He called on the governmental and private institutions and philanthropic people to support the foundation's efforts to execute the cancer treatment centers in a number of governorates. The national campaign being carried out in Sana'a, Aden ,Hadramout ,Taiz, Hodeidah and Ibb governorates, aims to set up specialized centers for treating cancer and offering medical care for the cancer patients. The campaign includes holding several awareness seminars and lectures and delivering the expressive brochures, posters and boards as well as TV and radio broadcasts to make the society aware of the cancer risks. Furthermore, in the campaign, the wok would be inaugurated officially in the Early Detection of Breast Center in Sana'a, which is equipped with the modern medical devices at total coast of YR100 million.

SANA'A, Aug 17 (MYM channel)- Minister of Fisheries Wealth Mohammed Shamlan held talks on Monday with a delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the future projects would be offered by the Agency in the fisheries field in Yemen. The talks also dealt with the mutual cooperation between Yemen and the Agency in field of fisheries. Shamlan appreciated support of the Japanese government and JICA in the fisheries field, particularity in the field of aquaculture and tuna fish farming. The Japanese official affirmed his country adherence to supporting the Yemeni development progress, especially in the fisheries field, making reference that JICA is currently studying the fishery sector to carry out typical projects in this field. On the other hand, Sahmlan reviewed with JICA's senior experts a report on the expert's visits to different coastal provinces to evaluate situations of fishery sector and its requirements. The Japanese expert affirmed the necessity of coordination among the ministry, fishermen and the private sector to organize the fisheries resources management and find a strategy for marketing fishery productions.

French official affirms concerns to finalize investigation into Yemen crashed plane Mohammed Yahya on 08/17/2009 at 10:55pm (UTC)

SANA'A, Aug. 17 (MYM channel)- Chairman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology Hamid Faraj held a meeting here on Monday with the French official Kristine Robischon responsible for contacting families of the victims of the Yemenia airplane. During the meeting, Robischon valued efforts exerted by the Republic of Yemen and its procedures since the accident took place late June 2009 offshore the Comoros. She affirmed concern of the French government to finalize investigation activities into the incident as well as seriousness to retrieve the two black boxes, making clear that French authorities have contracted with a US specialized company to lift the boxes. Robischon noted that the US company has sent its ship from Cyprus and it is in its way to the Comoros, expressing her understanding of the dissatisfaction of families of the crashed plane victims with the procedures taken so far. It is worth to mention that a Yemeni investigation team left on Monday evening for the Comoros to participate in the investigation process as well as in the lifting of the two black boxes.
